# For referrers > How GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians, allied health professionals and organisations can refer to clinical psychologist Jess Chadakorn, with or without Medicare. Source: https://jess.ac/referrers/ For GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians, allied health professionals, schools and organisations referring children, teenagers or adults to Jess in Rosanna, Warrandyte or by telehealth. ## Two ways to refer ### With a Medicare referral A Better Access referral lets your patient claim a Medicare rebate under the clinical psychology items. It can come from a GP or prescribed medical practitioner at the patient’s MyMedicare practice, or their usual medical practitioner, with a Mental Health Treatment Plan. A psychiatrist or paediatrician can also refer directly. The first referral covers up to six sessions, within the limit of 10 individual sessions each calendar year. Further sessions need a review of the plan and a new referral. A Better Access referral includes: - The client’s name, date of birth and contact details - Symptoms or diagnosis, and current medications - The number of sessions referred - Whether a Mental Health Treatment Plan has been prepared - Addressed to Jessica Chadakorn, Clinical Psychologist, signed and dated ### Without a Medicare referral Schools, employers, allied health professionals, community organisations and other practitioners can refer without a Medicare referral, and people can also book directly. Sessions are then paid privately, and clients can claim from private health extras if their cover includes psychology. A short letter or email with relevant background is welcome but not required. If an organisation is funding sessions, please arrange invoicing with the clinic’s reception before the first appointment. ## Sending a referral Send the referral, and the plan if there is one, to the reception team at the clinic your client will attend. Include the client’s contact details so reception can arrange an appointment. She completed a Master of Psychology (Clinical) and a two-year registrar program at Canberra Health Services, with rotations through acute mental health, the Pain Management Unit and mental health rehabilitation. She holds a current Victorian Working with Children Check, and her registration is verified by Psychology Today. She sees children from about six, teenagers and adults. Therapy begins with an assessment, which may include a diagnosis where helpful, and a formulation that shapes a treatment plan agreed with the client and reviewed as therapy progresses. She draws on CBT, ACT, schema therapy, DBT skills and psychodynamic therapy. Jess works with people experiencing: Trauma and PTSD; Anxiety; Depression and mood; ADHD and neurodiversity; Eating disorders and body image; Chronic pain and health conditions. ## Keeping you informed Under Better Access, Jess sends a written report to the referring practitioner at the end of each course of treatment. With the client’s consent, she is glad to liaise about shared care. ## Urgent situations Jess and the clinics can’t respond to urgent situations, and referrals may not be read the same day.
